Xiaomi is preparing to unveil its new flagship model. If rumors are to be believed, the Xiaomi 13 could look a lot like an iPhone.
Xiaomi always has an eye on the competition and this is sometimes verified on its own models. The Chinese brand assumes this strategy which has allowed it to become a major player in the sector. Long nicknamed the “Chinese Apple”, the firm had gradually moved away from this image, which was not always flattering for a manufacturer. With its next smartphone, Xiaomi should however relaunch the comparisons by offering a device similar to the iPhone.
At the beginning of November, the leaker Steve H. McFly mentioned this resemblance by publishing renderings of the Xiaomi 13. This smartphone had strange similarities with Apple’s flagship product: edge-to-edge screen, flat borders with rounded corners… All the iPhone codes were present and this seems to be confirmed, as these new images and videos attest.
A collaboration between the site Pigtou and the leaker xleaks7 shows a dummy model, in aluminum, of the future Xiaomi 13. It confirms that the firm is abandoning the design of the current Xiaomi 12 and the round edges, to more closely resemble the latest iPhones.
Even the back of the device and the photo block recall the choices made by the Cupertino company. Xiaomi’s 13 series would have a triple photo module on the back ; as well as a front camera on the front. The latter would take place in a punch, located in the center of the screen.
In addition to the images, a dummy model video shows that the Xiaomi 13 would look a lot like the iPhone. The power and volume buttons will still be present on the side; while the USB-C port will logically be located at the bottom, accompanied by a speaker grill. As mentioned previously, the Xiaomi 13 would have dimensions of 152.83 x 71.53 x 8.37mm. It would confirm the manufacturer’s desire to offer a high-end and compact device. For comparison, the iPhone 14 measures 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.8 mm and weighs 172 g.
See you before the end of the year for the Xiaomi 13… or Xiaomi 14
In all likelihood, it is before the end of the year that we should discover the new series. For now, Xiaomi has not confirmed anything except that its next flagship will feature the future Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Expected in December in China, the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will arrive a few weeks later in France.
It remains to be seen what name the Chinese manufacturer will give to its new vintage. Indeed, the number 13 is at the center of many superstitions and rumors – to be taken with a grain of salt – indicate that Xiaomi could move directly to the Xiaomi 14. This will not have escaped you, the question had already arisen for Apple before the announcement of the iPhone 13.
